Action Communiterre , Biotop Canada et Agriculture Canada have developed this project in order to create a technological window where they can demonstrate the efficiency of this technology. In fact, it consists of a gardening system that offers the possibility of cultivating a large variety of decorative, vegetable and shrubby plants in a residential, institutional, or community setting. Also, all cultivated veggies will be donated to the food bank and the neighborhood kitchen church. The green roof is an excellent way of minimizing heating and air-conditioning costs, while purifying the air and bringing a beautiful green urban space. Action Communiterre is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1997, with its mission to bring local residents together in a common effort to enhance food security in the neighborhood of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce of Montreal, improve the urban environment, preserve bio-diversity, and strengthen community ties. This mission consists of equipping the school with bike racks, in order to encourage active transport, and bins to allow the establishment in collecting organic materials destined for municipal composting. Victoriaville is a pioneer in Quebec for organic and recycled materials. The realization of this ATTITUDETM mission represents the necessary push for the school to participate in this collection and also, to minimize the volume of non valorized waste. This initiative possesses an important dimension of education relative to the environment and will bring the students to positively influence the people around them in adopting sustanaible behaviors.
